In an industry often obsessed with virality, flashy launches, and emotional selling, Truth Over Trends is a blog series for entrepreneurs who want to build something that lasts — on God’s Word.

As a business owner, manager, entrepreneur, influencer or network marketer, you’re constantly told to “follow the system,” ride the wave, or adapt to the newest algorithm — but God’s system never changes. While social media trends shift weekly and everyone seems to be chasing the next big shortcut, God’s Word remains the one strategy that doesn’t expire or need updating. It’s not just a moral compass — it’s a blueprint for how to build with consistency, stewardship, service, discipline, and trust.

This blog series is for founders, team leaders, and up-and-coming entrepreneurs who want to grow with conviction, not compromise. It’s for those building in the entrepreneurial and network marketing space who want to protect their integrity, nurture their faith, and preserve their peace — even when the pressure is loud and the pace is fast. Here, I’ll share lessons I’ve learned (and am still learning) as a Kingdom-minded entrepreneur — along with devotionals, leadership insights, and raw, honest conversations about what it really looks like to do business God’s way.

Because let’s be real: it’s not always easy.

There are days people will challenge you — your decisions, your faith, and definitely your patience. There are days you’ll get caught up in the hype, distracted by numbers, and lose sight of why you even started. There are moments when business feels louder than your family, and your peace starts slipping through your fingers.

That’s why this space exists — to remind you (and me) that we’re not alone. We’re all learning. We’re all growing. And we’re all trying to lead from a place of faith, not frenzy.

You won’t find hype here. You’ll find hope. You won’t find quick-fix formulas, but you will find faith-based frameworks rooted in scripture and prayer.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned business leader seeking deeper purpose, welcome. As an imperfect entrepreneur doing her best and often falling short, I realized, this blog series was something I needed, and without a doubt, someone else out there (maybe you) was probably praying for. So, let's dive in...

Why God's Word is the Original Business Plan

Before there were funnels, scripts, and compensation plans — there was Genesis 1. And in it, God gave us the first blueprint for work, leadership, growth, and stewardship. Let’s break down how God’s original plan still applies — and why it’s still the best model for your entrepreneurial walk.

  • God Created With Purpose

“In the beginning God created…” (Genesis 1:1)→ Every successful business begins with purpose — not hype. If your "why" isn’t rooted in God’s truth, it will drift with trends.

God didn’t create randomly. He created with intention. Every detail of creation — from light to land to human life — was crafted with meaning and mission.

As an entrepreneur, especially in network marketing, your business must be more than a money-making machine. Your “why” should be rooted in purpose — not popularity.

👉 If your goals are based on what others are doing or what's trending, you'll burn out.

💡 If your goals are based on God's direction, you’ll build with clarity and endurance.

Ask yourself: Is my business built on purpose or pressure?

  • God Worked in Order, Not Chaos

God created the world in sequence — He didn’t throw everything together. Likewise, your business needs structure, order, and rest. Creation followed a rhythm — one day at a time. God could have spoken everything into being in a moment, yet He chose to create with intentional pacing. Light on day one, rest on day seven. He modeled order — not burnout.

And I’ll be honest: this is where God is still working on me. Taking time to rest? That has been one of my biggest personal battles.

I have this tendency to throw myself into work — fully, obsessively, to the point where everything else fades. When I’m in motion, I stay in motion. And during busy seasons, I’ve gone days with barely sleeping or eating because the task felt more urgent than my well-being. It used to drive my ex-husband crazy. And the truth? He wasn’t wrong.

There were times I put the hustle before health, performance before peace — even though I claimed I was “working for the Lord.” But a business that robs you of your rest, your relationships, and your ability to hear God’s voice in stillness is not a business that honors Him.

If that’s where you are right now, I want to speak this in love: That is not God's plan for you. And it’s not the kind of business He’s asking you to build.

God models rest. He commands rest. He doesn't bless chaos — He blesses obedience, and sometimes obedience looks like slowing down.

So if you’re running on empty today, I challenge you to stop and ask: Am I working in rhythm with God… or just running on adrenaline?

  • God Delegated and Empowered

He gave Adam stewardship over the garden. → As a CEO, boss, leader, network marketer: your role is to empower your team, not control them. You may need to read that again.

👉 A controlling leader builds a team that depends on them.

🙏 A Kingdom leader builds a team that discovers their own calling and gifts.

There’s a fine line in leadership between supporting your team and suffocating their growth.

At first, being “the one with all the answers” feels good. It strokes your ego. It makes you feel needed. But here’s the hard truth:

A controlling leader doesn’t raise up leaders — they raise up followers and needers. And followers burn out, get stuck, or constantly wait to be told what to do...That’s not leadership. That’s dependency.

  • God Prioritized Relationship Over Results

Adam and Eve walked with God before they worked for Him. Don’t idolize results or rank. Relationship with God comes first. In network marketing, it’s dangerously easy to flip that script. We start off wanting to help people… but slowly, goals take center stage:

    • The next rank

    • The next bonus

    • The next recognition post

    • The shiny prize at convention

And before you know it, we’re working for God in name only, but not walking with Him daily. Even worse? We start seeing our team as a means to our success, instead of the mission God has entrusted to us.

In the world’s model, success is all about you getting to the top.

But in God’s model? It’s about how many people you helped get there with you. I’ll never forget the first time I heard someone say it so clearly:“We don’t want to get to the top alone — we want to take people with us.”

That wasn’t just a motivational quote — it was the heartbeat of Steve and Gina Merritt.

When I met them three years ago, that was their message. And today? It hasn’t changed. Their mission is still centered on raising others up — not just building for themselves, but building with people.

At first, I’ll admit… I thought maybe it was just a nice thing they said. You hear a lot of “team talk” in this business, and sometimes it doesn’t go beyond the surface. But then I had the chance to truly watch them. I saw their actions, I saw the way they poured into their team — without favoritism, without ego — and I saw that they really meant it.

They didn’t chase titles. They chased people’s growth. They didn’t speak about servant leadership. They lived it.

    And witnessing that changed me.

It made me want to lead differently. It made me want to build a business that reflected God’s heart — where success isn’t about how high I climb, but how many people I help rise.

That’s the kind of leadership that multiplies. That’s what it looks like when you lead God’s way. You cannot build a Kingdom business with a worldly ego. When rank or title becomes more important than God, and your sales or downline volume more important than people, you’ve stepped out of alignment.

Here’s the truth:

  • When you put God first, you lead with integrity.

  • When you put your team’s success first, your success follows.

  • When you walk in servant leadership, your impact multiplies.

That is Godly success — not just measured in titles, but in transformation.

Realignment Check:

Ask yourself:

  • Do I spend more time checking my back office or bank account than I do checking in with God?

  • Do I value my rank more than the growth of my team members?

  • Am I chasing goals, or am I building people?

God honors the builder who prioritizes people over profits.

🙌🏼 Final Word: I'm Still Learning Too

Let me be clear — I am far from perfect. I’m not writing this because I’ve mastered Godly leadership or because I always get it right. I’m writing this because I need these reminders as much as anyone. This is how I hold myself accountable. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve chased the wrong things. I’ve had to check my heart more times than I can count. And I’ll keep checking it — because leadership isn’t about pretending you’re perfect, it’s about showing up with humility, learning out loud, and doing your best for the people God has entrusted to you.

We’re all learning. We’re all growing. We’re all trying to help each other rise.

That’s what real leadership is: Not being the best — but doing your best. Not hiding your faults — but owning them and choosing to grow. Not chasing your own success — but helping others find theirs. If this message helps even one person pause, realign, and lead with more heart, then it’s worth every word.

Let’s keep striving toward Truth Over Trends — and toward the kind of leadership that truly honors God.
